Mattia Vezzola

Celebrating 50th years of Experience and Passion

The experience, passion and philosophy of a man, Mattia Vezzola, can shatter prejudices deep-rooted in time; hence Mattia Vezzola has reinterpreted the sensory profile of Valtènesi Rosé, the noblest and most representative wine of Lake Garda, making it unique and contemporary.

Observation and research have made it possible, through experience, to achieve objectives and accolades which have resulted in its becoming one of the benchmarks on the world winemaking scene. In 1973, he produced the first Classic Method of Lake Garda and in the following years his vision and mission was to make the rose’ wine an excellence.

An antidote to formalism!

The Costaripa rosé wines are an antidote to the banality and complications of everyday life.   They express themselves through elegance and nonconformity with persuasive, silky and graceful bouquets, with a persistence of rare sapidity.

They are considered to have always been in the forefront thanks to its typical mellow face powder and pearl colour and a sharp evolutionary capacity due to refinement in small oak barrels which extend the volume of its aromatic and gustatory range; its natural juiciness brings to mind the sun and Mediterranean breezes.

The Costaripa rose are awarded as the best Italian rosé!

Wines

Brut Rosé s.a. – Classic Method since 1973

£38 per bottle T/A – £213 x 6 bottles

80% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Noir / 12.5% vol

Grapes ripened to perfection on the oldest inner and outer moraines, exposed to south and south-west. With very gentle pressing of the Pinot Nero (vinified in part in rosé and in part in red) from the most suitable limestone clay areas of Garda and Franciacorta, 35% of the must ferments in little white oak casks of a capacity of 228 litres.

Colour: White effervescence and persistent perlage with little bubbles, demonstrating excellent ageing on the yeast. Slight, antique pink which over time can reach the more classical “onion skin” colour
Aroma: Intense, well-rounded aroma of ripe fruit with hints of forest fruit, vanilla and currant.
Taste: Elegant in its harmony, full taste and structure while maintaining excellent fragrance, freshness and taste.

Rosa Mara DOC 2021

£28 per bottle T/A – £153 x 6 bottles

Groppello Gentile 50%, Marzemino 30%, Sangiovese 10%, Barbera10% / 13% vol

“The wine of a night” – Made with the “tear drop” method which uses the pick of the crop and applies stationary draining before fermentation, thereby obtaining what is regarded as the heart of the grape. Half of the must ferments and develops in little oak casks of a capacity of 228 litres for around 6 months.

Colour: Very light blooming pink, characteristic of very soft, delicate vinification.
Aroma: Inviting, well-rounded yet at the same time subtly elegant. Hints of hawthorn, sour cherry and pomegranate.
Taste: A silky, harmonious texture, rich in excellent persistence and taste. Slight aftertaste of bitter almonds.

Molmenti DOC 2016

£38 per bottle T/A – £213 x 6 bottles

Groppello Gentile 60%, Marzemino 20%, Sangiovese 10% Barbera 10% / 13.5% vol

Costaripa dedicates this most typical wine of its history to Pompeo Gherardo Molmenti, creator in 1896 of the Chiaretto di Moniga. The “tear drop” method and ermentation in casks produces a Chiaretto in the long-standing “tradition” with remarkable character and longevity. Bottled after two years of ageing following harvest, lying in the bottle until its perfect maturity.

Colour: Light pink with peach colour highlights.
Aroma: Well-rounded with sweet white blooms, little red fruit and a subtle hint of vanilla.
Taste: Well-rounded, enveloping and complex structure with a lasting aftertaste of bitter almonds. Crisp freshness creates a stimulating drink. Excellent taste and extraordinary persistence.

Campostarne DOC 2021

£26 per bottle T/A – £141 x 6 bottles

50% Groppello Gentile, 30% Marzemino, 15% Sangiovese, 5% Barbera / 13% vol

Vinified with great care and naturalness and aged for at least 12 months in small white oak barrel, this wine is delicious and highly digestible.

Colour: Intense, deep ruby red
Aroma: A complex bouquet of flowers and forest fruits, blackberries and raspberries, well-rounded and intense.
Taste: Excellent harmony, good texture with a full structure, satisfying sensations on the nose and palate with hints of cherry and stewed fruit. Excellent development in the bottle is possible.

Palm Argentina 2022

£29 per bottle T/A – £159 x 6 bottles

Wine from overripe grapes – Groppello Gentile 50%, Marzemino 45%, Moscato Rosa 5% / 10% vol

From the ancient varieties of Groppello and Marzemino cultivated on the lakeshore at Moniga del Garda comes PalmaArgentina. After the branches are cut, the grapes remain for some weeks on the vines. The loss of turgidity and water allows the grapes to concentrate the sugars during a mild period at a moderate temperature. The process bestows the bouquet of a armonious and perfectly balanced wine, which grows in harmony and roundedness thanks to the addition of a little Moscato rosa which completes the wellrounded context. Suitable to accompany a delicate pastry dessert and forest fruits.

Colour: Very light coral pink.
Aroma: Persuasive on the nose with intense hints of fresh summer fruit, and lasting memories of melon, apricot, strawberry and raspberry jam.
Taste: Enveloping in its harmonious softness, perfectly matching the fruity sensations. An excellent freshness distinguishes the experience of drinking this wine.
