WIne Tasting & 6-Course Meal - £65 per person
Sunday, September 4th 2022 from 6pm
With acclaimed wine producer Enzo Barbi of Decugnano Dei Barbi
We are honoured to welcome to La Locanda one of the most important wine producers in Italy. Wine has been produced at Decugnano since 1212 where the Barbi family continues this tradition.
The meaning of Decugnano’s name is unknown, lost over time. The first written testimony dates back to 1212, when wine was made at Decugnano for the clergy in Orvieto. These were the lands of Saint Mary of Decugnano.
In 1973 Mr Claudio Barbi found the land of Santa Maria Decugnano abandoned and fell in love immediately. The intention was to produce wines of the highest quality and respectful of a unique and precious terroir. The first wines were released in 1978 and were an immediate success.
Enzo, the son, believes in respecting nature and the land, always ensuring attention to detail and employing constant experimentation and innovation. Above all they strive to produce elegant wines, which are extremely smooth and embody a strong identity, appreciated by descerning customers all over the world.
Decugnano dei Barbi produced the first Umbrian method classic (millesimo 1978) and the first Italian noble rot (vintage 1981).
