A Night of Music, Food and Community: La Locanda’s Charity Evening with Stage Door Youth Theatre

A group of young people and two adults from Stage Door Youth Theatre pose together indoors. Most are wearing black clothes, some are smiling, and they stand closely in a warmly lit room at the La Locanda charity event.

On Tuesday 9th December, as La Locanda marked its 22nd anniversary, the intimate restaurant in Gisburn became an unlikely theatre—one where the magic of musical performance met the warmth of authentic Italian hospitality, all in support of a wonderful local cause.

The sold-out evening brought together guests who share our belief that the best moments in life happen when good food, heartfelt performances, and community spirit come together at the same table.

When Young Talent Meets Italian Tradition

The young performers of Stage Door Youth Theatre filled our restaurant with an energy that reminded us why we do what we do. As Chef Maurizio prepared each course of the three-course Italian dinner, the talented young people delivered Christmas songs and musical theatre pieces that had our guests wiping away tears one moment and singing along the next.

“We are so incredibly thankful to La Locanda’s owners, Cinzia and Chef Maurizio, who have donated 100% of the evening’s proceeds to our Stage Door Youth Theatre charity,” said Creative Leader Janet Philbrook. “We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as our young people did.”

For us, it was our pleasure entirely. Watching these young performers share their passion reminded us of our own journey—Maurizio and I came to Lancashire with little more than a dream and a deep love for what we do. Supporting organisations like Stage Door, who nurture the next generation, feels like the natural thing to do.

About Stage Door Youth Theatre

Founded in 2005, Stage Door Youth Theatre is a registered charity dedicated to making performing arts accessible to young people. They provide training and performance opportunities that build confidence and self-esteem, offering Saturday morning classes in musical theatre, dance, and drama at affordable prices.

Their next production is one you won’t want to miss: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is coming to Colne’s Muni Theatre in February 2026. This beloved musical features unforgettable classics like “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door,” performed by Stage Door’s talented young cast.

A Perfect Anniversary Celebration

As we reflected on 22 years of La Locanda that evening, surrounded by music, laughter, and the faces of our wonderful guests, we were reminded that a restaurant is so much more than a place to eat. It’s a gathering place, a stage for celebration, and—when we’re fortunate—a force for good in our community.

To everyone who joined us for this special evening, to the incredible young performers who shared their talents, and to Janet and the entire Stage Door Youth Theatre team—grazie mille. Thank you for allowing us to be part of something truly special.

Here’s to many more years of bringing people together, one beautiful evening at a time.
