La Locanda

La Locanda is a multi-award-winning Italian restaurant in Lancashire.

Highly regarded for its dedication to authentic Italian cuisine and for sourcing the best quality local produce, La Locanda is situated in the charming village of Gisburn. Nestled within the beautiful landscape of Lancashire’s picturesque Ribble Valley and just a stone’s throw from AONB Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, La Locanda has long been a popular destination for locals and visitors, alike.

La Locanda is owned and managed by husband and wife team, Maurizio and Cinzia Bocchi. Both are natives of Lake Maggiore which straddles two of Italy’s most northern regions, Piedmont and Lombardy, and has the stunning backdrop of the Swiss Alps. Assisted almost entirely by a team of fellow Italians, Maurizio heads the team in the kitchen, whilst Cinzia manages all front of house operations.

Recognition for Quality and Authenticity

In the almost fifteen years since Maurizio and Cinzia first opened the doors at La Locanda, they’ve been very worthy recipients of numerous awards and accolades. However, the recognition that’s followed them almost right throughout this time, and one that they’re most proud of, is Ospitalità Italiana. This certification aims to highlight the best Italian restaurants around the world, those which seek to defend and protect Italian cuisine from adulteration and falsification, and preserve its history, culture, quality and authenticity.

Dedicated to the Best Quality Produce

Spending a lot of his childhood in Italy learning about and appreciating the abundance of amazing produce they had around them, Maurizio is passionate about sourcing the best quality produce. Whether this is imported from Italy or sourced from one of the many fabulous local producers he’s been associated with over the years, Maurizio is very careful to select produce that’s been grown, reared and produced only to the highest standards.

Slow Food

Originally founded in Italy, La Locanda is a loyal supporter of the Slow Food organisation and Maurizio is a member of the Slow Food UK Chefs’ Alliance. Slow Food is a global, grass-roots movement that links the pleasure of food with a commitment to community and the environment, and the menu at La Locanda features a good proportion of produce that fulfils the Slow Food criteria of ‘Good, Clean and Fair’ or that which is listed in the Slow Food ‘Ark of Taste’.
