For you to enjoy food that’s been created using the freshest and best quality produce available, our à la carte menu can change relatively frequently. Therefore, below, we’ve just provided you with a small selection of dishes that have appeared on the menu recently. If you would like to be emailed our full, current à la carte menu, please call or email us and we will be happy to oblige.
When you come to La Locanda, we want you to experience the true taste of Italy and all of our dishes are freshly cooked to order using traditional techniques and ingredients. Also, although well behaved children are always very welcome at La Locanda, you won’t find a ‘children’s menu’ here and this is because, in Italy, we like to develop the palates of the bambini early and they would generally share with the food adults are eating. Please feel free to discuss this with us when you visit La Locanda with children. Many of the dishes you’ll see on the menu can be made to children’s size portions, and we are also more than happy to prepare simpler pasta dishes, if required.
Allergen Advice: Please note, we are able to offer some dishes not using gluten. However, as with all food allergens, our dishes are prepared in areas which allergenic ingredients are present and so we cannot guarantee that dishes are 100% free of these ingredients due to the preparation process.

Meal time in Italy is a really important part of the day; it’s an occasion to socialise and relax, and a meal can often take four hours, or even longer when it’s a special occasion and there’s lots of chatting between courses.
Italians love to savour the flavour and tastes of their food, and consider eating as an experience to be enjoyed, associating good food with all of the special occasions in life. At a formal meal, it’s not unusual to have twelve courses, sometimes more when there’s more than one Primi Piatti and a sorbet added.
- Aperitivo con Stuzzichini – aperitif with nibbles
- Antipasto Caldo – warm starter
- Antipasto Freddo – cold starter
- Primo Piatto – pasta or risotto at lunch – minsetra or light pasta or light risotto or light gnocchi at dinner.
PLEASE NOTE: It’s sometimes not uncommon to have more than one primi piatti dish.
- Secondo Piatto di Pesce con Contorni – fish course with minimum two side dishes .
- Secondo Piatto di Carne con Contorni – meat course with minimum two side dishes
- Formaggi – cheeses, a selection of four minimum
- Dolci – dessert
- Frutta – selection of fresh fruits

- Ammazza Caffè (coffee killer) – a shot of liqueur

Don’t worry, for a really good meal out with your family and friends, usually, eight courses are fine!

Chicken livers with grapes, pine kernels and Marsala wine sauce.
Pere al Gorgonzola – £7.95
Slightly baked pears, wrapped in Bresaola I.G.P. (cured beef fillet) from Valtellina, served in a walnut and Gorgonzola D.O.P. cheese sauce – A regular dish on the menu and a very popular favourite since 2003

Traditional Tuscan stew with clams, mussels, king prawns, calamari, peppers, touch of garlic and chilli, served with homemade crostone.

Traditional dish from Sardegna. Gnocchetti sardi (pasta with gnocchi shape) with spicy sausage from Calabria, mushrooms, peppers, tomato, chilli and onions.
Ravioli al Salmone – £10.95 / £14.95
Half-moon shaped ravioli, filled with Scottish salmon and served with a delicate, creamy saffron shrimp and poppy seed sauce. A regular dish on the menu and very popular favourite since 2011

Prosciutto di Parma D.O.P. and buffalo mozzarella pasta parcel, warm tomato coulis, basil oil.

Spaghetti allo Scoglio – £10.95 / £15.95
Artisan produced durum wheat spaghetti, from Maestri Pastai in Gragnano, with king prawns, clams, mussels, calamari, garlic and a touch of tomato. Final cooking in the oven, in a paper bag (al cartoccio) to retain all of the aromas and flavours in the dish. A regular dish on the menu and very popular favourite since 2005.
